Looks like floral prints have been Rubina’s favourite throughout the wedding ceremonies. Even for her mehendi, she wore a floral knee-slit gown with a red-coloured jacket on top. She accessorised her look with jhumkas that added an Indian touch to her look.

Rubina shares, “It took me four months to create the song, Teriya Mohabbatanein, which is a Hindi and Punjabi mix. It’s my gift to Abhinav, as I wanted to dedicate him something in his mother tongue. Everybody expected me to dance, but I wanted to do something unexpected. I made an audio-visual representation of our relationship, sang the song, recorded it and played it. It was like a musical skit, which was enacted by my friends. That was the highlight of the evening.”

There was a special pahadi performance by Rubina’s family. They had a live band with authentic instruments that were almost a 100 years old. On his part, Abhinav adds, “The Dilaiks impressed us with their warmth and hospitality. The song that Rubina dedicated to me is the best gift I have ever received. Rubina’s mom gave me an outdoor watch, which I was planning to buy since a long time. My mother gave Rubina some traditional jewellery, which she has inherited.”

Besides their respective families, the function was also attended by close industry friends, including Keerti and Sharad Kelkar, Tina and Hussain Kuwajerwala, Rajesh Khera, Tanya Abrol and Rahoul Lohani.

Rubina, currently seen as Saumya on ‘Shakti — Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki’, has taken eight days’ leave for her big day. She will head back to the set soon after the wedding, which is why the newly-weds haven’t finalised their honeymoon plans. The busy bridegroom sums up, “We have to get back to our shoots (Abhinav is seen on ‘Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka’), so honeymoon will happen later.”

The bride, who hails from Shimla, added an emotional touch to the sangeet, by crooning a special song, written and composed by her.
