Till a few years back, no one would have imagined that Indian television would be this big. Gone are the days when TV actors lived in anonymity. Today, they are as popular as their filmi counterparts.
Television actors even view their telly career as a stepping stone to their ultimate goal – films. And who can blame them? The enigma named Shah Rukh Khan is the one who gave them the hope. Today Shahrukh is the Badshah of Bollywood. In the recent years TV actors Vinay Pathak, Prachi Desai, Rajeev Khandelwal, Aamna Sharif and Shweta Tiwari have made their Bollywood entry. But very few can boast of a hit. The latest to join the bandwagon are TV heartthrobs like Karan Singh Grover, Sulagna Panigrahi, Ragini Khanna, Roshni Chopra, Shilpa Anand, Tia Bajpayee and Pravesh Rana who are set to step their baby feet in Bollywood.
Sulagana Panigrahi who has received lot of appreciation for her role in Murder 2 claims that working on television and acting in a film are completely different experience altogether. Actress Roshni Chopra who is making her debut on silver screen in upcoming film Phhir says that today TV actors can also make it big in Bollywood.
Many will agree that some actors are made for movies, while others are better suited for TV. But at the end of the day, it’s destiny that plays an important part.
