Actors of daily soaps cannot have the luxury of recuperating even if they have met with a serious accident. This is what happened with Pallavi Gupta, the lead actress who plays Sapna in Hum Ladkiyaan. Pallavi met with a serious accident on New Year’s Eve when she fractured her thigh bone. However, despite the accident she is shooting for the show. Seeing Pallavi’s condition and the fact that she needs a wheelchair to move around, the producer has changed the script and introduced a major twist in the story.

Recalling the incident, Pallavi said, “I met with a major accident on December 31 in the afternoon while shopping with my sister in Lokhandwala.”

The autorickshaw we were travelling in toppled and the whole weight came on my left leg. Though I was unconscious, I could just hear people saying ‘ladki ki tang gayee’. I realised that my legs were not moving at all. Thankfully my sister was fine and she immediately rushed me to Nanavati hospital. They told me that my bones were fractured and I had to go in for a surgery. The doctors told me that not only had I had broken my thigh bone, I had no skin left on my ankle. I had to be in the hospital for the next six days. However, I was told that I would not be able walk for the next two months. I then informed my producer Anirudh Pathak that I wouldn’t be able to continue with the show. The doctor had to put a rod in my leg.

My producers were very supportive and waited for me. I then resumed shooting from January 14 as they were okay with the fact that I could sit and act, but couldn’t walk. Now I am shooting from a wheelchair. But right now I have a phobia of travelling by autorickshaw.”
