Smriti Irani brings Gandhi to the small screen

Smriti Irani, in association with UTV Television, is all set to produce a tele-serial on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. This drama series would seek to tell the whole life story of Gandhi and his nonstop search for truth. We spoke to Smriti Irani about this big venture. “I’m highly honoured to be a part of this epic. Mahatma Gandhi was a husband, father, and a family man. Moreover, this serial will focus not on his political work as we know it but the sacrifices which were made by his family which nobody knows about. “I’m doing research on it so we are going to the actual location of his birthplace. Therefore, it will take time to start the shooting.”

On working with UTV, she adds, “I have worked with them earlier. Apart from the serial, I’m also co-producing a film. I am still working on the script and the actors will get finalized within a few months. We will start shooting at the beginning of next year.”

Speaking about her TV shows, she says, “Right now I’m focusing on Kyunki and my new serial Warris. I don’t want to reveal what will happen in Kyunki as I want my audience to watch it.”

Smriti Irani will also be seen in an important role in the Jackie Shroff starrer “Malik Ek”.
