It’s now a ‘Hatrick’ for the Bhabhi team; after ‘Mera Saaya’ and ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge’, the creatives are now inspired by another old classic – ‘Aulad’. Aulad was a very emotional film that spoke of a mother’s love for her kid and her longing to get her kid back. The story revolved around 2 couples – Jeetendra and Sridevi, Vinod Mehra and Jayaprada.
Talking about the story of the film Aulad, Sridevi has a kid while Jayaprada is expecting. The two couples meet on train, and befriend each other. This journey gets ill-fated, when the train collides with another train; tragedy strikes, as Sridevi is presumed dead, while Jayaprada loses her husband as well as her kid. Jayaprada gets hysterical, and seeing her longing for her kid, Jeetendra gives his kid to Jayaprada and walks away from their lives. Many years later, Jayaprada and Jeetendra come face to face again, and Jeetendra gets attached to his own son. He repeatedly keeps visiting them, to the extent that his visits get to be a nuisance, and an embarrassment. At this point, Sridevi comes back and Jeetendra’s life gets brighter again. But when Sridevi asks for her kid, Jeetendra is caught in a dilemma, and he tells her the truth. Here begins a tussle between the two heroines, who long to be with their kid.
This is the exact story line that Bhabhi is adopting now. The story now is poised at the stage where, Vishal Singh who plays Dev, has given his kid to Gitanjali, played by Gurdip Kohli, after the death of his wife Suhaana. Telly Buzz talked to the new Suhaana, Jayshree who said, “I don’t know the future track. The creative heads are working on it. You can talk to them regarding this. Suhaana is shown dead, but she will be back, of course. But what will happen when she comes back, I don’t know. I will need to see the script for that… ”
Though Jayshree remained tight-lipped about the future track, her confirmation that Suhaana will surely be back, probably assures the viewers that, this story is surely going the ‘Aulad’ way… Now, to be inspired by a great classic is fine, but why copy the entire track from a Bolly film and incorportate it in the serial? If this is the plight of TV soaps, where do we get the right meaning for ‘Creativity’?
