Tina’s designs on Hussain

Hussain in an outfit designed by Tina Tina Kuwajerwala has started designing clothes for her husband Hussain, one of the hosts in Indian Idol 3. The budding designer, who was last seen in Nach Baliye 2 and Life Ban Jaye, will soon be launching her designer clothes, which will be available at a few renowned stores in Mumbai. This is not all. If all goes well, Tina will also be designing personal wardrobe for actresses like Gauri Pradhan, Sai Deodhar and Shweta Kawatra.

Earlier the export work of her designs was handled by Tina herself, but henceforth, Tina’s mother will be taking charge of it, so that Tina can concentrate on her work. Apparently, Tina does not like to make tall claims about designing for her husband, so she secretly goes into Hussain’s vanity van to dress him up for the show. Says Tina, “Hussain’s clothes are being well appreciated these days and his fans SMS me to say that they are very happy with his current look. Besides, Hussain is also very content with the dress code. So far, we have managed to design pretty well for him and the production house has had no complaints.”

So how did she bag the designer’s role for Hussain in the show? Says Tina, “I started designing for Hussain in Indian Idol 3 after the gala round. The production house was looking for a new designer for him and I grabbed the opportunity. I asked him if I could start designing clothes for him. I am glad I could bring about a pleasant change in his look and his clothes in the show. Hussain and I share a very professional relationship when it comes to designing. He has rejected my designs twice and if he does not like my clothes at any point he is free to reject them. So the risk is totally mine. I am taking things slowly and steadily.”

If all goes well, we will see Tina designing for more anchor based shows on television, besides designing for her industry friends. But Tina refuses to be on screen after her television debacle, Life Ban Jaye on Sony, where she was unceremoniously replaced by Parmita Katkar.

Tina who has major expansion plans with her new designer line, says, “I do not want to harass the producers unnecessarily as I know television isn’t my forte. I will rather do what I can. My actor friends in the industry are very happy with my creations and I will soon start designing for them.”
