Manoj Bohra (aka Prem in Kasauti Zindagii Kay), has finally got his much-desired break in Bollywood. The actor has bagged a plum role in Tips’s forthcoming (yet untitled) film. The film stars Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan, and marks the return of Aziz Mirza as a director after Chalte Chalte.
Manoj sent his portfolio to director Aziz Mirza, who was quite impressed by his personality. He immediately called up Manoj for a meeting. All Manoj had to do was to meet producer Ramesh Taurani and Aziz Mirza, and he was selected for the role. Says an excited Manoj, “This is the best break one could have asked for. I just had one meeting with them and I was selected.”
Manoj will be playing a parallel lead to Shahid in the movie, where he will be seen as a stylish young guy. The cast and crew of the movie are going to Canada for a two-month schedule on August 3.
Of late, Manoj has been working hard to get into the skin of his character. “I play a smart and suave man in the film. But I am not suppose to reveal too much about my character according to my contract,” he adds.
For the past one year, Manoj has been learning dance as well. “Dance is an integral part of any Bollywood film. After one year of practise, I am quite good with my footwork. Since Shahid is an excellent dancer, I am really looking forward to some good footsteps from him,” says Manoj.
So far, Manoj’s character Prem has been one of the most stylish characters on the small screen. Although the show was doing quite well, Manoj decided to quit midway, since he did not want to play a middle-aged man after the leap.
So, is he quitting television? “No, I am not quitting television. Prem was the best character I have portrayed so far. It is just that I didn’t get to play anything better than that. So, I preferred to stay off from all those run-of-the-mill characters,” says Manoj.
