For a long time, Kiran Karmarkar lived under the shadow of his character Om, in Kahaani Ghar Ghar kii. Fortunately for him, he soon bagged a prominent role in Smriti Irani’s Thodi Si Zameen, Thoda Sa Aasmaan where he is playing her husband, Sudhanshu. However, of late, it seems that Kiran Karmarkar has lost a substantial amount of screen space in the show. The actor rarely shoots for the show now.
According to a source close to the production house, “Of late, many new characters have entered Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasmaan which includes Shveta Salve, Shraddha Nigam, Sameer Kocchar and recently Jas Arora. With the inclusion of new characters, Kiran Karmarkar’s character is on the verge of extinction. Unlike other actors who would always complain about their roles, Kiran never complained to Smriti. But, he is not very happy with the turn of the events. In fact, he has lost hopes as far as his character in Thodi Si… is concerned.â€
When contacted, Kiran confirmed that he shoots only for a few days for the show. “I hardly shoot for three to four days a month for Thodi Si Zameen…,†he said.
He further said, “A lot of new characters have entered Thodi Si… which has made the canvas of the storyline quite vast. So, I guess my character does not have that kind of scope. I hope my character gets a new lease of life in the coming days,â€
Kiran had left Balaji Telefilms’ Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii as he was not happy with the way his character, Om, was shaping up in the serial. Now, with his non-existent role, there is a question mark on Sudhanshu’s character. Any complaints? “I am not the kind of actor who will crib about the space they are getting in the storyline. Whatever I have done in the show was fabulous and it’s great working with Smriti as a producer and an actress. If something is not working, I would like to keep mum and let the producer take the call. As I am working lesser for Thodi Si… these days, I am looking out for roles in other shows,†he said.
