An established actress on the small screen, Monalika Bhosle got recognition in Balaji shows Kutumb, and Kesar. Currently, she’s basking in the glory of Saathi Re. She plays Zenab, the other woman in Aamir’s life. But as the buzz goes, soon her track will go missing in the storyline.
In a quick interview, Monalika talks about her current track in Saathi Re and her future plans.
What’s unique about your character Zenab in Saathi Re?
It started on a positive note and later Zenab turned completely negative to the extent of becoming a psycho. Again the story is going forward on a positive note.
Is it true that your track is coming to an end in the serial ?
My character Zenab will soon go missing from Saathi Re. I am now shooting for a proper vidai and a rona dhona sequence. Also, viewers will see the track gaining ground as a love story.
How is it working with Aamir Dalvi?
Aamir is quite a prankster. It was fun to have him as a co-star. The atmosphere on the sets was also very good and I loved working with Sanjay Wadhwa. All the actors are very well taken care of and one can’t crib about anything.
Tell us a little about your struggling days?
I came to Mumbai from Pune to do ramp shows. Girish Malik asked me to do show for B4U. I was really not sure about it, but one thing lead to another. Later, Soni Razdan asked me to do her show Hamare Tumhare.
You’ve also done a lot of Balaji shows?
I did Kkusum, Kesar, Kahiin Kissi Roz, Kya Hadsa Kya Haqekat, Kabhi Souten Kabhi Saheli and Kutumb.
Didn’t Balaji offer you anything post Kesar?
No, they haven’t offered me anything till now. I am open to any good offer.
Would you act in a comedy show?
Surely. I laugh a lot so I should be good at comedy.
What kind of a person is Monalika Bhonsle?
I am confident, introvert, optimistic and have a very independent bent of mind.
If not an actress…
I would have opened a boutique of my own
Would you like to act as a typical bahu?
I have never played a bahu. After all, saas bahu sagas sell and the audiences’ love them. But, somehow I’ve always got to do negative characters. For the first time, I played a positive role in Saathi Re which again turned negative.
Tell us a little about your family?
My brother Bobby Bhonsle is a writer. He’s currently busy with a Balaji show. My sister Sonalika is a creative head for Betiyaan Apni Ya Paraya Dhan (Star Plus).
What kind of roles are you looking for?
Something substantial and off beat. But somehow, all the formats on the small screen are more or less the same.
Apart from your acting career, what else are you passionate about?
I am passionate about music.I love to hear trance and house music. I love to paint and make portraits.
What are your future plans?
I take life as it comes. I definitely want to continue acting. Acting is my lifeline. Let’s see what is in store for me now post Saathi Re
